Want to share a calendar with family, friends, or coworkers? Since aCalendar is not a cloud service and does not host your data on its own servers, calendar sharing is handled directly through your cloud provider (like Google or Microsoft). Here is how sharing and importing works.

1

Cloud Sharing (Recommended)

To create a shared calendar where multiple people can view, add, or edit events, you must set it up through your cloud calendar provider's web interface. Once shared, aCalendar will automatically display it.

1

Google Calendar

Log in to Google Calendar on a web browser. Go to Settings → click on the calendar under Settings for my calendars → select Share with specific people and add their email addresses.

2

Microsoft / Outlook

Log in to Outlook on the web, navigate to the calendar section, right-click your calendar, select Sharing and permissions, and enter the person's email address.

Important Note: After someone accepts your calendar invitation, the shared calendar must be enabled for synchronization on their Android device. For Google Calendar users, they may need to check their sync settings via the Google Calendar sync dashboard or aCalendar's Manage Calendars menu. Also, please make sure the calendar is not hidden in a disabled profile.

2

Public Sharing & ICS Import (iCal)

If you want to use web-based calendar feeds or import individual data packages using the standard iCalendar (ICS) format, you have different options. Please note that aCalendar itself does not host calendar databases, so imports and subscriptions run through your Android system or cloud account:

A

Subscribing to a Web Link (Live Feed)

To subscribe to a web-based ICS calendar (such as sports schedules, shift plans, or public events), you can either use your cloud service or 3rd party apps:

Via Cloud Service (Recommended):
  • For Google Calendar, you can subscribe to calendars by URL here.
  • For Outlook.com, please see this Microsoft help page.
  • Otherwise, please use your cloud provider's online help if you cannot find the option within their web interface. Once added online, the feed will display and update automatically in aCalendar.
Via 3rd Party App:

We recommend the apps ICSx⁵ and Ical Import Export. Please note that we cannot provide support for 3rd party apps; for any questions or technical problems, please contact the respective developer directly.

B

Importing a Static ICS File (File Manager)

Tap an `.ics` file within an email attachment or your file manager app. Your Android system will offer to open it with a calendar app, allowing you to choose which of your existing accounts the events should be imported into.

C

Importing Large Files via Web Interface (Recommended)

For larger calendar files, it is highly recommended to import the file using the web interface of your calendar provider (like Google Calendar or Outlook on a computer browser). This ensures the entries are cleanly processed and safely synced down to your smartphone.

3

Sharing Local Calendars

Because local calendars are stored completely offline inside your phone's internal memory, they lack cloud functionality and cannot be synchronized in real time with other users.

Alternative Method: If you must share a local calendar's content, you can manually export it as an `.ics` file or send single events via email/messaging. However, changes will not update automatically for the recipient.

4

Attendees (Business Features)

Instead of sharing an entire calendar, you can also invite specific people to individual events. This feature is handled right within aCalendar (for more information on premium modules, see our Business Features guide):

Managing Attendees

When creating or editing an event in a cloud calendar, you can add attendees by typing their email addresses. Your cloud provider will then automatically send out invitation emails, and you can view their RSVP status directly inside aCalendar.
